Delaware River Regional Trail

UPPER DELAWARE TAKE A HIKE!

Difficulty: Easy – This is a nice walk through the town of Narrowsburg, NY.

Trail Description: This 2.5 mile loop trail is an easy walk through downtown Narrowsburg.  The trail begins at the DEC River access located on De Mauro Ln.  The trail is well marked and is relatively flat. A great way to get out for a walk through historic Narrowsburg.

Walk along De Mauro Ln to Bridge St.  Take a right on Bridge St. and walk towards Main St.  Turn left onto Main St. From Main St., take a slight left onto 5th St.  Walk along 5th St. to 2nd Av. and take a right.  Walk along 2nd Ave. until you get to 4th Ave.  Turn right.  4th Ave. will turn into Delaware Dr. When you get to 3rd St, make a left. Continue on 3rd St. until you arrive back at 4th Ave.  Make a right.  Continue on 4th Ave. until you get back to 5th St. Continue on 5th St. back to Main Street.  Backtrack your way back to the trail head.

Walnut Mountain Park

Hikers at Walnut Mountain, Liberty

Walnut Mountain is a Town of Liberty Park maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department of the Town of Liberty. The park has many trails that are old carriage roads with a of red shale base. There are also trails that have been cut through the woods and fields in different places. The Renegades Mountain Bike Club has also constructed over 9 miles of single track trails in the park. All of these trails means that it is easy to find many different routes to suit different abilities and interests.

Walnut Mountain Park is located on Walnut Mountain Rd., Liberty, NY. Walnut Mtn. Rd is located off  Route 55 (between Ferndale-Loomis Rd and West Lake St.)

Willowemoc Wild Forest

Willowemoc Wild Forest is in the southwest area of the Catskill Park, and includes more than 14,800 acres. It includes a variety of trails and a number of ponds. Camping and fishing are permitted, and Waneta Lake in the park has a handicapped-accessible fishing pier.

The Willowemoc Wild Forest is eighteen miles north of Liberty and nine miles northeast of Livingston Manor, the closest village with amenities. It lies largely within the northern Sullivan County towns of Neversink and Rockland, with small appendages in the towns of Denning and Hardenburgh in Ulster County. The Wild Forest surrounds the Mongaup Pond State Campground and abuts the Big Indian Wilderness. Source: https://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/9146.html

DIRECTIONS
Trailhead parking for the Willowemoc Wild Forest trails are well marked. The more popular trailheads include: Wild Meadow Road Trailhead – Located in the town of Denning, 2 miles northwest of Claryville. Long Pond Trailhead – Located in the town of Neversink on Flugertown Road, 3 miles northeast of Willowemoc. Mongaup Pond Campground – Located in the town of Rockland on Mongaup Pond Road, 3 miles northeast of DeBruce. Frick Pond Trailhead – Located on Beech Mountain Road, 3 miles north of DeBruce. (See each specific hike for directions to the trailhead parking.)

Wolf Brook Multiple Use Area

Wolf Brook Creek

The Wolf Brook Multiple Use Area is 585 acres adjacent to the Neversink Unique Area. Hiking trails are available, and fishing and camping are permitted. The two trails, Wolf Brook Road and Powerline Road, are wide and relatively flat.

The Wolf Brook MUA is adjacent to the Neversink Unique Area Trail System. The “Yellow Trail” can be accessed from both the Katrina  Falls Rd Access (Neversink Unique Area) and the Wolf Brook MUA.

Wurtsboro Ridge/Roosa Gap State Forest

The Long Path Trails are located within the Wurtsboro Ridge State Forest and Roosa Gap State Forest. The Wurtsboro Ridge State Forest and Roosa Gap State Forest trails range from Moderate to Strenuous.
