Whenever you are camping and/or hiking in New York State on public lands, you must also abide by the rules of the Department of Conservation (DEC).

Certain areas may have different rules and regulations, particularly if they are privately owned, so be sure to check with a regional management office before camping – and especially before hunting or fishing — in specific preserves or multi-use areas.
