An Evening of Classical Jazz
August 5, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
There’s going to be a “jazzy” start to the 24th season of the Shandelee Music Festival’s Sunset Concert Series. An Evening of Classical Jazz featuring the Fred Moyer Trio opens the season on August 5th.
Featuring Fred Moyer on piano, Peter Tillotson on bass and Bob Savine on drums, the Trio plays both improvisations and note-for-note transcriptions of the best trio performances of historic piano giants.
Frederick Moyer’s career has taken him to over 40 countries, where he’s performed at the Sydney Opera House, Windsor Castle, Carnegie Recital Hall, Tanglewood and the Kennedy Center. He’s been a piano soloist with the Cleveland, Philadelphia, Minnesota and London Symphony Orchestras, to name just a few.
Peter Tillotson has performed everywhere from garage bands to Lincoln Center, where he’s played everything from Be-bop to Bluegrass and pop, with the Boston Symphony, and entertainers Don Rickles, Steve Allen, Scott Bakula and Maureen McGovern.
After receiving his formal musical training at Penn State and Berklee College of Music, Bob Savine has performed with a diverse group of singers and instrumentalists including The Artie Shaw Orchestra, Keely Smith, Sheila Jordan, Mike Metheny, and many other fine musicians.
The program for An Evening of Classical Jazz will be announced from the stage.
The Boston Globe called the Moyer concert, “A success on the highest level from first to last … something to write home about,” and the New York Times said, “First-class … His playing is clean, unmannered and full of ideas and intelligence.”
All performances in the Sunset Concert Series begin at 8 p.m. and will be followed by a specialty dessert reception. The climate-controlled, Sunset Concert Pavilion is located at 442 J. Young Road, Livingston Manor. The grounds and Pavilion are completely accessible.
Concert tickets are $35 for adults, $30.00 for Shandelee Music Festival members, and $10.00 for students 17 and under. Advanced reservations are required by calling 845-439-3277. Additionally, subscriptions are available for a 10 percent discount. For more information, please visit https://www.shandelee.org.
