SUMMARY:2018 Dream boards
DESCRIPTION:Surround yourself with images of who you want to become\, what you want to have\, where you want to live\, vacation\,etc. and then fix those life changes and desires on a Dream Board. For decades\, Olympic athletes have been using visualization to improve performance. Science also tells us that brain patterns activated when a weightlifter actually lifts heavy weights are also similarly activated when the lifter just imagines lifting the weights. In this workshop\, we’ll focus on what you feel and want in life to create your vision board toward making life changes. We’ll also share each other’s experiences in creating the board at the end of the class. $25 pre-registration required. All supplies and light food provided.

SUMMARY:Fastnacht at the Clair Inn and Cafe
DESCRIPTION:You’ve done Mardi Gras\, now experience Fastnacht! \nWhat’s Fastnacht\, you ask? Fastnacht Day is an annual Pennsylvania Dutch celebration that falls on Shrove Tuesday\, the day before Ash Wednesday. The word translates to “Fast Night” in English. The tradition is to eat the very best foods\, which are part of the German tradition\, and lots of it\, before the Lenten fast. \nFastnachts (pronounced fos-nok s in German) are doughnuts\, made with potatoes and yeast. All are slightly crispy on the outside and not as sweet as standard doughnuts. \nOK\, sounds fun. Do I have to go to Germany? \nNope—just show up at Clair Inn in Youngsville on Saturday\, February 10th at 2pm with an appetite and $20. All you can eat German buffet\, courtesy of the gang at Clair Inn\, and fastnacht doughnuts courtesy of Sullivan County’s favorite Pennsylvania Dutch boy\, John Zimmerman. Of course\, you can’t eat German food without beer\, and a selection of interesting brews will be available along with the standard bar fare\, so join us at this zammelaaf (gathering) and kumme esse (come eat) some hinkelwelschkann-nudel supp (chicken corn noodle soup) and other tasty dishes in the baerschtubb (bar room) and by the time you leave\, you’ll be fluent in the mutersproch (mother language)! \nThe Clair Inn will be opening its restaurant exclusively for us for this event\, and a portion of the proceeds will go to Catskills Pride’s Sheldon Soffer Scholarship in Music and Arts Fund. What’s not to like? Good food and a good cause! \nMer hoffe mer sehn eich datt! (We hope we see you there!)

SUMMARY:EPF Day 2018
DESCRIPTION:Join the Trail Conference for a day in Albany advocating for open space\, parks\, and trails. \nIn 2017\, Governor Andrew Cuomo appropriated $300 million for the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF)\, continuing the historic funding level he established for the EPF the previous year. The EPF has directly supported the Trail Conference by providing funding for the rehabilitation of trails on Bear Mountain\, including the original section of the Appalachian Trail\, as part of the iconic Bear Mountain Trails Project. It funds the Lower Hudson Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM)\, for which the Trail Conference serves as the host organization. The EPF is an annual avenue of support for Trail Conference projects\, including the important work of open space acquisition and preservation for our long-distance trails\, and we will ask representatives to back its full funding. \nIf you love New York trails and parks\, this is a great opportunity to tell your representatives why they deserve to be protected. \nFor more information about the EPF\, including how the EPF has benefitted each county throughout the state\, visit keepprotectingny.com.
