Film and Talk: The Burmese Harp
November 11, 2016 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Join us at the Laundry King for a special screening of the classic Japanese film “The Burmese Harp” (1956), featuring a talkback with Michiko and Steve Levine.
Director Kon Ichikawa portrayed the decimating effects of World War II from the point of view of the Japanese army in this stirring Oscar-nominated landmark, the first in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. A thoughtful and balanced experience for Veterans Day weekend.
Runtime: 116 minutes. Black and white. Presented in Japanese with English subtitles. This film is not rated. Recommended for ages 13 and up. Contains violence and disturbing images.
This event is free and open to the public, and donations will be accepted at the door. Presented as part of the “CAS Film Club” series.
